Adam Kalamchi is an Associate at RRE Ventures. Adam focuses on early stage investments in the e-commerce SaaS, consumer health and wellness, and financial technology spaces.
As we move towards a predominately online shopping experience, I believe there is significant opportunity for startups to help retailers solve the complexities of running omni-channel brands. E-commerce is a huge opportunity, but also presents lots of new problems that are ripe areas for data analytics and process automation startups to stake out territory and build big companies. I got a hands-on education in this area working at Bonobos in 2012.
I am also passionate about health and wellness and am surprised that there are relatively few hugely successful startups in this space. I spend a lot of time talking to entrepreneurs about this and looking for breakout companies that could create leading consumer health and wellness brands.
I also actively look at financial technology companies where RRE has deep expertise and relationships.
Prior to joining RRE, I spent time as a technology investor at the UAE-based sovereign fund ATIC, a Mubadala subsidiary. While at ATIC, I spent significant time on the ground in Germany, Singapore, and the Bay Area working on long-range strategy and operational improvement at Globalfoundries, the second largest semiconductor contract manufacturer globally. I began my career as a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company where I focused on private equity transactions. I also spent a summer working at Bonobos where I led projects on customer concentration, customer referral behavior, and product strategy.
In college, I co-founded CollegeCorps, a 501©3 non-profit that trained, funded, and placed undergraduates in economic development internships in emerging markets. CollegeCorps was funded in part by a Special Initiates grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. I have lived in both Palo Alto and San Francisco while co-founding a seed-stage startup.
I hold an MBA from Columbia Business School where I was President of the InSITE Fellows program. I also hold a BA from Harvard College where I graduated with honors and was a member of the Varsity Track & Field team.
