Jim Robinson

Jim Robinson, GENERAL Partner

Jim has been active within the technology community for over thirty years, and has led investments in and served on the boards of more than forty technology companies. His core focus is on businesses that are transforming industries by leveraging network effects, intelligence and decentralization. He is  a Co-Founder and a Director of Abra, and a Director of Camp, HYPR, Netsertive, Noom, OLO, and TheSkimm. Jim is a Board Observer at Bitpay and the Digital Currency Group (DCG). In addition, he led early investments in 21e6, Bitnomial, Chain (Inter/Stellar), Gem, itBit/Paxos, Nihaopay, and Ripple.

Previous investments include Wisdomtree (WETF), Vocera (VCRA), Broadsoft (BSFT), iCrossing (Hearst), RevolutionMoney (American Express), (Coinbase), SmartPay (Ping An), Enpirion (Altera), GoldPocket/Wireless (Tandberg/Motricity), Metapath (Marconi), Mixed Signals (Tektronix), Rubric (Broadbase), Telocity (Hughes), Vastera (VAST/JP Morgan) and Red Brick Systems (REDB). Jim has been recognized on the Forbes Midas List of Top 100 VC's, as well as Institutional Investors' Top Fintech Investors.

Before founding RRE, Jim and Stuart were co-founders of an in-stadium touchscreen ordering startup that proved to be about a decade too early. Previously, he worked at H&Q Venture Capital and JP Morgan & Co.  Earlier,  he  founded IV Systems. He is a former NYC night-shift taxi driver.

Jim holds an MBA from Harvard and a joint degree  in Computer Science & Business Administration from Antioch College. He is a Director of the Empire State Realty Trust (ESRT), the New York City Partnership Investment Fund, the HBS Alumni Angels of NY, and an early Advisor to the Chamber of Digital Commerce. Jim is also a father of four, an inventor, and a dog person.
